Versatile Communications Proud Providers of the Boston Marathon “Race Day Network” for 15 Years
April 15, 2011
The Boston Marathon, managed by the Boston Athletic Association (BAA), is the world’s oldest and most prestigious road race event. Since 1997, Versatile Communications has been providing the critical data and communications “Race Day Network”.
The 2011 Boston Marathon features some of the world's fastest distance runners, and more than 26,000 entrants from 90 countries and 50 states competing on the historic course. Versatile’s experience and knowledge make available the accuracy and reliability to ensure a seamless result for race day and the duration of the entire event. With tens of thousands of participants and a course running through eight cities and towns, the data and communications network Versatile designs and manages must keep event staff and emergency responders connected and provide real-time race information.
Additionally, the network implemented by Versatile supports the needs of the onsite media coverage, a component that is critical to race day success. On-site media coverage of the Boston Marathon ranks behind only the Super Bowl as the largest single day sporting event in the world. More than 1,100 media members, representing more than 250 outlets, receive credentials annually.
Versatile is proud to have played a key role by delivering Boston’s Race Day Networks for 15 years…and counting.
