John Barker, President and Co-Founder

John’s ability to recognize support needs, combined with an emphasis on customer satisfaction, has transformed Versatile Communications into a highly skilled computer systems and network infrastructure provider.

Prior to co-founding Versatile with Kevin Meany, John served as a manager in Digital Equipment Corporation’s (DEC) customer satisfaction and support program. In this role, he supported Digital’s Fortune 500 customer base. Working closely with executive IT personnel, John created solutions that allowed Digital’s clients to migrate successfully from legacy systems and applications to new platforms.

Over the last two decades, John held numerous positions that focused on all phases of information technology, including an 11-year tenure with DEC and several years with Systems Architects, Inc. John’s extensive experience provides him with the insight to identify customer issues and create effective solutions for our clients.

John is a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s four-year Executive Leadership program.
 

Kevin Meany, Chief Strategist and Co-Founder

Kevin leads our engineering team and the deployment of our technology and services solutions. With more than 20 years experience developing complex infrastructure strategies, implementing IT support solutions and evaluating new technologies, Kevin has been an integral part of our success. Beginning his career with Digital Equipment Corporation , Kevin started as an intern and continued his tenure through 1993 while pursing his education at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Northeastern University. In his role as a Senior Technical Analyst, Kevin set the direction for support services and implementations in Digital’s internal IT organization by evaluating new and emerging technologies.

In 1993, Visibility, Inc. , an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems solutions company, recruited Kevin to create their Technical Services and Implementation Group. The group’s focus was delivering system and network implementation services for the company’s major ERP deployments. While with Visibility, Kevin coordinated the efforts of over 50 major implementations for customers primarily in the manufacturing sector, providing updated infrastructure and systems that improved their clients’ business operations and overall profitability.

Kevin’s extensive IT background has continued to provide the insight we need to recruit and retain a highly skilled engineering team. Today, he remains focused on recruiting and supporting enterprise level customers, such as Spalding Sports Worldwide, Baupost, Bain and North Atlantic Energy Services.
 

Rich Stratton, Director of Sales

Rich joined us in 2009 to lead our sales efforts and quickly established himself as a key contributor to the Versatile team. Rich brings more than 15 years of sales and business development expertise with a proven track record for achieving milestones, eclipsing sales goals, and exceeding customer expectations.

Prior to joining Versatile, Rich held sales and business development positions with both IT manufacturers and resellers. Most recently, he led the New England business development efforts for HP’s Networking Division (formerly HP ProCurve).

His diverse experience spans several companies where he promoted state-of-the-art enterprise products, systems, services, and solutions. While with Softtek, Rich managed a 70-person team that delivered outsourced services to large companies including EMC. He leveraged strategic alliances and contacts within Sun, EMC, HP, EDS, and GlassHouse to establish name recognition for Revivio, Inc., a start-up developer of enterprise-based continuous data protection systems that was later acquired by Symantec. Rich and his team successfully managed a large portfolio of accounts for Amherst Technologies, repeatedly earning him an invitation to the Presidents Club and the CEO’s Circle of Excellence.

In addition to studying marketing and business management at Hesser College, Rich completed Dale Carnegie training and obtained certification as a Dale Carnegie Course instructor.
